Seph Mortensen

Therapist Intern

Seph (he/they) approaches therapy as a relational and experiential process. They believe healing unfolds through being met as one is, developing awareness of emotional experience in the present moment, and reclaiming our relationship with body, Earth, and spirit.

Seph is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University. Their work is trauma-informed, and their approach is influenced by Gestalt Therapy, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Expressive Arts, EMDR, and Buddhist Psychology. Seph works with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, identity exploration, faith transitions, and spiritual or existential questions, including experiences of spiritual emergence or crisis.

They also work with children, offering an authentic and attuned space to support trauma processing and nervous system regulation through Synergetic Play Therapy. This approach allows children to express themselves and explore their inner world through play.

As a practitioner of mixed ancestry with single-sided deafness, Seph brings lived experience of navigating identity, difference, and accessibility. This informs their commitment to offering care that is affirming, inclusive, and attentive to each client’s unique context.

Outside of the therapy room, Seph is a mindfulness meditation teacher, Taiji-chuan practitioner, yogi, and musician. They find joy in creative expression, being of service to others, and time spent in the mountains with their dogs.

Rebecca Cohen, LCSW is Seph’s clinical supervisor.
