MaKayla Dusch-Hegburg, ACMHC, NCSP - Therapist
MaKayla (she/her) believes that the power of community and connection to ourselves and others is how we heal, a little bit at a time. Exploring yourself and your world takes time, and it is a journey that she hopes to share with you, at least for a little while. She is an avid supporter, advocate, and ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, and is passionate about creating and holding safe spaces for all. She is also passionate about working with women’s issues, non-traditional relationships, and complex trauma. MaKayla has been working with adolescents and families for over seven years in the public education setting, particularly adolescents with Autism and severe disabilities. Her therapeutic approach includes Internal Family Systems, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Polyvagal techniques. She is excited to offer a holistic approach to healing, including activities and treatment plan alterations (art therapy, somatic practices, etc.) that better meet the client where they are and empower how they can heal best.
She received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah. She has a previous Masters and Educational Specialist Degree and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, with extensive experience in assessment, advocacy, and special education.
Originally from Pennsylvania, MaKayla moved out west in August of 2019 with her husband and her Pomeranian, Toki. The things that bring her the most joy are the people in her life that fill her cup, libraries, coffee shops, Halloween, the color black, windows down with good music, and spending time in the sunshine.
