Liz McCooey, LCSW - Documentation Specialist, Supervisor, Therapist
Liz (she/her) believes that connection can be an incredible catalyst for change. She is excited about creating connection with her clients and supporting them as they explore where they want to go. Liz has experience working with adolescents and young adults in a wilderness therapy setting as well as college, and graduate students in a university counseling center setting. Liz is trained in EMDR and frequently incorporates interventions and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Liz has training with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and integration. She also incorporates mindfulness practice, and self-compassion into sessions. Liz enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, and the impacts of trauma. Exploring body image with clients is also something that she is passionate about.
Originally from New York, Liz received her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Utah with a focus in mental health. When not at work, Liz enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and teaching adaptive sports.
