Katie Ovrom
LCSW, Therapist
Katie (she/her) believes that effective therapy can offer a pathway back to our authentic selves and a way to find connection, hope, and purpose even in the face of life's unavoidable challenges and pain. She prioritizes building a caring, collaborative therapeutic relationship with individuals so that we can approach even the most uncomfortable parts of self with compassion and curiosity.
Katie specializes in working with individuals dealing with the impact of traumatic experiences, grief & loss, negative body image or disordered eating, and those navigating significant life transitions such as the challenges of emerging adulthood, relationship issues, separation or divorce, faith transitions, midlife and aging considerations, and the impacts of acute or chronic illness. She is especially passionate about providing affirmative care to LGBTQIA+ individuals and families. She also greatly enjoys working with other therapists, therapists in training, and healthcare workers.
Katie believes it is important to explore how our identities interact with the social and cultural environment in which we live, and to acknowledge how this shapes our experiences and the beliefs we hold about ourselves. With that context in mind, she utilizes a variety of evidence based practices including ACT, DBT, Self Compassion, and Interpersonal Process, among others, to help individuals explore and change their relationship to beliefs that may be getting in the way of living as one’s most authentic self. Her goal is that therapy serves as a pathway to a greater sense of freedom, ease, and contentment.
Outside of work, Katie loves running, rock climbing, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and snuggling up with her cats!
