Heather Pedersen

Therapist Intern

Heather (she/her) acknowledges that we are at a uniquely difficult time in history, when we are bombarded with judgment from our social, cultural, and political environments, and burdened by financial pressures and the demands of numerous role expectations. So many of us are left suffering from anxiety, stress, and the unresolved pain of grief and trauma that has built up as we all carry on until it is too much.

Heather’s therapy practice focuses on a hopeful, practical approach and the belief that every individual possesses the power and inner strength to reauthor their story and realize their true potential.  She has worked with families, children, and adolescents seeking help for depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.  Her work is influenced by Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Holistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Bibliotherapy when working with children. Heather’s work reflects her belief in a more flexible, personalized approach that fits her clients needs rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

When it comes to working with children, Heather believes in the power of children’s literature to reach them in developmentally appropriate ways—providing a safe space to improve cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional outcomes, inspiring imagination, self-awareness, empathy, and courage.

A native of California, Heather has lived over half her life in Utah, considering it her home. She enjoys testing new recipes, taking road trips, and talking to strangers. However, she does not enjoy paragliding or skydiving. Heather is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.
